Understanding Redevelopment Powers

County Ballot Question:

“Shall the Act be approved which authorizes the City of Grovetown, Georgia to exercise all redevelopment powers under the ‘Redevelopment Powers Law,’ as it may be amended from time to time?”

How Do Redevelopment Powers Work?

Allows local governments to identify strategic areas that may be distressed or need improved infrastructure

Facilitates new private investment, job growth, and supports strategic growth

Does not increase property taxes, but instead is a way to stimulate reinvestment in an area by funding needed infrastructure or improvements from future tax proceeds within the designated redevelopment area.
